Xiaomi’s 17-Series Smartphone Sales Exceed Expectations Amid Production Challenges
Chinese tech giant Xiaomi (XIACF) saw its shares rise after reporting stronger-than-expected sales of its new 17-series smartphone. The device, priced at $631, is positioned as a direct competitor to Apple's iPhone 17, launched just two weeks prior. Xiaomi's Pro and Pro Max versions undercut Apple's base model by over $100.
Billionaire co-founder Lei Jun announced on Weibo that the 17-series surpassed 1 million units sold within a week of release, outperforming previous models. However, Xiaomi's smartphone business president Lu Weibing apologized for inventory shortages, suggesting even higher sales potential without supply constraints.
